Burnaby high school students optimistic about their second pandemic summer

Another summer in quarantine? Or busting out after over a year of pandemic blues?

For these Burnaby teens looking forward to summer, the future is uncertain but looking better. 

“I think this summer there’s going to be more opportunities because the middle aged people are vaccinated and more shit’s gonna be open,” says LeBron Smith, a 17 year old student. 

Teenagers have really had it hard this past year with online schooling, staying stuck indoors, and not having that social interaction with their peers. Hopefully this summer can give high school students that much needed break.

“This summer I’m gonna have fun with my friends as more and more people that are at risk are getting vaccinated,” says Don Oso, another Burnaby high school student. 

“I’m just hoping COVID is under control soon so we can all go back to our normal lives.”
